Under the Urban Investment Climate Survey for Bangladesh, BEI will carry out structured face to face interviews of 1500 manufacturing and services establishments in the six divisional cities of Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi and Barisal. An assessment of the conditions for private investment and enterprise growth in the country will be drawn based on the responses by the firms. ICAs have been completed for more than 70 countries so far and this will be the second time it will be completed for Bangladesh. BEI had also undertaken the first survey, conducted in 2002 and the ICA report published in 2003. ICAs provide a standardized way of measuring and comparing investment climate conditions in a country and eventually feed into the World Bank Group’s country assistance strategies and programmes.
