Corporate Governance Programme for the Human Resource Professionals of Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) organized a two-day Workshop on Corporate Governance (CG) for Human Resource Professionals of Bangladesh, with the support of Bangladesh Society for Human Resource Managers (BSHRM). The workshop was held on September 3 – 4, 2006 from 9:30 am – 5:00 pm at the BEI conference room at House # 20, Road # 5, Gulshan – 1, Dhaka.
Dr. Y.R.K. Reddy, Chairman of Yaga Consulting Ltd and founder trustee of Academy of Corporate Governance (ACG), Hyderabad, India, Barrister Sheela R. Rahman, Advocate, Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates, together with other local experts spoke at the programme.
Corporate Governance has become mandatory in developed economies and has recently been adopted by the Bangladesh Bank and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Establishing good CG principles is crucial to the development and sustainability of any organization. The process of implementing CG has to be started with the individuals in the organization and human resource professionals play a key role in disseminating and implementing good governance principles at the organizational level. The workshop focused on the roles of the HR professionals in implementing corporate governance principles in their organizations.
