Dialogue Series on CSR in Action: 8th Roundtable on CSR Practices and Challenges in Bangladesh

BEI organized a roundtable on Voluntary CSR Code for the RMG Sector at the BEI Conference Room on Thursday, April 27, 2006, from 3:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. as an initiative of the CSR Centre at BEI.

The roundtable was a part of the dialogue series on CSR in Action that BEI organizes every month to hear the perspectives of key stakeholders and raise awareness on CSR practices and implementation challenges in Bangladesh. This month’s roundtable was the 8th in the series and focused on the preparation and implementation of a voluntary code of conduct on CSR for the Readymade Garments (RMG) sector.

Brief presentations were made highlighting specific codes of conduct that is practiced at some of the participating organizations and the challenges they face in implementing the code in Bangladesh.

Lessons learned from the dialogues will help design programs and interventions to promote wider CSR adoption in Bangladesh in the RMG sector.
