The Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) will be organizing the Concluding Ceremony of Promoting Good Governance: Key Reform Challenges Facing Bangladesh, an initiative undertaken by BEI in August 2007. Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Honourable Adviser, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, launched the programme and delivered inaugural speech. Under this initiative, BEI hosted five roundtable discussions on the following issues:

1. Anticorruption Drive and the Way Forward
2. Energy and Power Crisis
3. State of the Bangladesh Economy: Determining the Priority Actions
4. The Future of the RMG and Textile Sector: Making Bangladesh More Competitive
5. Bottlenecks to FDI in Bangladesh: How Best to Improve the Investment Climate

The Concluding Ceremony will be held on Tuesday May 6, 2008 from 3:30 pm at the BEI Conference Room. BEI will make a presentation of the recommendations received during the discussions mentioned above.

Mr. Mahbub Jamil, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, In Charge of Ministries of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Industries, and Youth and Sports, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest at the Roundtable meeting and deliver the keynote speech.

The initiative, Promoting Good Governance: Key Reform Challenges Facing Bangladesh, is being supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh.
