BEI organized a Roundtable Meeting on the Role of Media in Private Sector Development. This roundtable meeting was the concluding meeting under a six month programme on of Building Capacity in Business Journalism Professionals (BCBJP). This training programmes primary objective was to develop the capacity of economic reporters. The roundtable held on Tuesday June 3, 2008 at the BEI Conference Room from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Mr. Saiful Bari, Chief Adviser, ATN Bangla, Mr. Moazzem Hossain, Editor, The Financial Express, and Mr. Hossain Khaled, President, The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry was present at the event as Guests of Honour. Mr. Farooq Sobhan, President, BEI, chaired the discussion.
The program, BCBJP, aims to create a demand for effective economic reporting, and in turn, improve the quality of business journalism in Bangladesh. BCBJP is envisioned to contribute towards the growth and development of the private sector in Bangladesh by strengthening the role of media as a “watch-dog”, which monitors and reports on economic reforms and development.
Distinguished representatives from the government, media, academia, and private sector are expected to attend the roundtable.
