The Launching Ceremony of the Commonwealth Business Forum Perth 2011

Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) in partnership with the Commonwealth Business Council organized the launching of the “Commonwealth Business Forum, Perth 2011” on May 17, 2011 from 4.00 P.M. to 6.00 P.M. at the BEI Conference Room.
The key objectives of the event were to raise awareness of the Commonwealth and specifically the work and value of the Commonwealth Business Council; to highlight opportunities for involvement in Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF); and to support bilateral relationships and economic links between Bangladesh, South Asia and Australia.
Mr. Arif Zaman, Adviser, South Asia and Corporate Governance, Commonwealth Business Council spoke at the event. H. E. Dr. Justin Lee, High Commissioner, Australian High Commission gave the closing remarks at the launching program. Amb. Humayun Kabir, Vice President, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute chaired the session.
The Commonwealth Business Forum is organized by the Commonwealth Business Council in collaboration with the private sector, Australian Government and Government of Western Australia. It will be hosted in Perth, Australia on the 25-27 October 2011 in conjunction with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, focusing on the theme “Partnering for Global Growth: The Commonwealth, Indian Ocean and the Pacific Rim.”
The Forum in Perth will also highlight new global economic partnerships for trade and investment in key sectors across the Commonwealth and beyond. The CBF as a unique gathering of business leaders from developed and emerging markets will focus on building the new economic and financial architecture in the global economy and ensure that it is inclusive and beneficial to all. This important business meeting will present a useful platform for fostering such partnerships and new relationships.
The roundtable discussion also included participation of representatives from the private sector, chambers, heads of mission of the Commonwealth countries, members of the Commonwealth society in Bangladesh, UNGC signatories in Bangladesh and many others.
