Under the project, Leadership Development Involving Trade Unions and Labour Leaders in Reform Agenda, the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) will be organizing a two-day seminar on the topic  from Saturday, April 12- Sunday, April 13, 2008 for the trade union and labour leaders.

The seminar will be held at the Bangladesh Institute of Administration Management (BIAM) located at 63, New Eskaton Road, Dhaka. The seminar will be the first in the series of five seminars to be held in different divisional headquarters of Bangladesh; a national seminar will be organized after completing six regional seminars under the project.

Mr. Khandaker Golam Moazzem, Senior Research Fellow, Centre for Policy Dialogue and Mr. Asjadul Kibria will present keynote papers in the seminar. Dr. Qazi Kholiquzzaman, Chairman, Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad and President, Bangladesh Economic Association and Mr. Moazzem Hossain, Editor, The Financial Express will be the distinguished speakers in the seminar. Mr. Farooq Sobhan, President will chair the Inaugural Session of the seminar.

The long-term objective of the project is to contribute to socio-economic development of Bangladesh through leadership development among the labour leaders within the trade unions under the reform agenda. The immediate objectives of the project are to equip the labour leaders regarding recent national and international development activities and its implication on social justice, and strengthening the leadership capacity for facing the upcoming challenges of globalizations, and act for fulfilling the millennium development goals more effectively.
