A Regional Conference on ‘Strengthening Cooperation between Members of Parliament and the Private Sector in Making Public Private Partnerships More Effective’
Date: 20 October 2012
Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) and The Asia Foundation (TAF) jointly organized A Regional Conference on Strengthening Cooperation between Members of Parliament and the Private Sector in Making Public Private Partnerships More Effective held on Saturday, 20 October, 2012 at the Hotel Ruposhi Bangla in Dhaka.
The objective of the conference is to provide an opportunity to the participants to discuss and exchange experiences on the current state of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in their respective countries and the cooperation between Members of Parliament and the private sector in facilitating PPPs. BEI believes that Public-Private Partnerships are of vital importance in promoting economic growth and development in each of our countries, as well as the region as a whole. However, the potential of effective partnerships between Members of Parliament and the private sector still remains largely untapped in the region.
This conference brought together Members of Parliament, senior government officials, business leaders, academics and experts from Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. We hope that the conference can put forward some recommendations on how best to facilitate the implementation of PPPs through strengthening the cooperation between Members of Parliament and the private sector, which we believe will in turn contribute significantly to expanding regional cooperation in trade and investment.
