Round-table Discussion on “Realizing the Vision of Digital Bangladesh through e-Government”

The Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) organized a round-table on “Realizing the vision of Digital Bangladesh through e-Government” on July 15, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. at the BEI conference room (House 20, Road 5, Gulshan 1, Dhaka 1212, Bangladesh). In this roundtable, a report on ‘Realizing the Vision of Digital Bangladesh through e-Government’ was launched.
This round-table was the final part of a BEI-initiated comprehensive study on the current state and opportunities of e-Governance in Bangladesh. The study aimed to assist the Government of Bangladesh in realizing the vision of establishing a ‘Digital Bangladesh’. Bangladesh has made significant progress in health sector and in achieving the MDGs (goal 4, 5 and 6). Bangladesh is also a role model in developing countries with respect to incorporating information systems in the health sector.
Honourable State Minister for the Ministry of Science and Information & Communication Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman had given his kind consent to attend this event as the Chief Guest. Prof. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Former VC, BRAC University and Amb. Muhammad Zamir, Chief Information Commissioner, Mr. Nazrul Islam Khan, PS1 to Prime Minister & National Project Director of A2I Programme, PMO Office graced the occasion as the Special Guests. A keynote presentation on the major findings of the study was made by Mr. Mridul Chowdhury, Consultant, BEI.
