Workshop on “Bangladesh’s Trade Facilitation Systems and Processes”

The Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat organized a Stakeholder Consultation Workshop on “Bangladesh’s Trade Facilitation Systems and Processes” on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. till 3:00 P.M. at the BEI Conference Room (House 20, Road 5, Gulshan 1, Dhaka 1212, Bangladesh).
Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat has undertaken a study to benchmark Bangladesh’s Trade Facilitation Systems and Process. This study will be done by Mr. Gul Pervaiz and Mr. Junxu Sun, Senior Consultants of CrimsonLogic Singapore and Mr. Sujeevan Perera, Adviser, Commonwealth Secretariat.
The overall goal of this study is to enhance the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s business environment through improvements to its trade logistics systems and processes. The main objective of the study is to carry out a trade facilitation benchmarking study that will assist the Government of Bangladesh to assess its trade facilitation efforts against best practice countries and international standards, and develop a strategy to address gaps identified in the final report.
The consultants will be in Dhaka from May 9th till May 13th, 2010. During their stay they will be meeting with several government agencies / departments to gather information on the systems and processes of trade facilitation in Bangladesh.
