Mr Faiz Sobhan, senior research director at Dhaka-based think-tank Bangladesh Enterprise Institute, told ST the situation in Bangladesh has been volatile since Hasina’s ouster, with the interim government still reconstituting the police force that has yet to function at its full potential, a setting that may have emboldened Islamist groups.
