On October 9th, BEI was pleased to host Ambassadors from three Nordic nations: Norwegian Ambassador, H. E. Håkon Arald Gulbrandsen, and Deputy Head of Mission, Marianne Rabe Knævelsrud, Swedish Ambassador H. E. Nicolas Weeks and Deputy Head of Mission Lovisa Hofmann, and the Danish Ambassador, H. E. Christian Brix Møller and Anders Karlsen from the Danish Embassy. A briefing was given on BEI and its extensive work of over two decades covering foreign affairs and security, governance, trade and investment and private sector development.
The briefing was followed by a wide-ranging discussion including on regional issues and Bangladesh's future socio-economic development agenda. The Ambassadors all expressed an interest in understanding how governance can be strengthened and how their countries could assist in such a process. Ambassador Farooq Sobhan, Founder CEO and Distinguished Fellow, BEI, and BEI President Ambassador M. Humayun Kabir, along with Senior Research Director, Faiz Sobhan, contributed to the discussions including about BEI's current and future initiatives.
