
A two-day National Conference on Preventing Violent Extremism in Bangladesh was hosted by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTCU) along with Rupantar and Stop Violence Coalition (SVC) Secretariat on December 09-10, 2019 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This conference was organized to discuss the trends in radicalization and violent extremism in Bangladesh, share experience and understanding of different stakeholders who are working on C/PVE issues in Bangladesh. The conference had also discussed government action plans and policies to solicit views/opinions from other governmental and non-governmentak actors. Members of different P/CVE program implementers like CSOs, NGOs, networks along with think tanks, researchers, academicians, and experts from universities, institutions, development partners, foreign diplomatsand government officials from various law enforcement entities also attended the conference. The Speaker of the Parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, and the Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan, also spoke at the conference. Mr. M. Humayun Kabir, Acting President, BEI, chaired a session during the conference. Mr. Faiz Sobhan, Senior Research Director, BEI, and Mr. Ashish Banik, Deputy Director, BEI, also attended the two-day conference.
